A member of our Jail Ministry team has a sister that had a horrific injury to her head less than a week ago. To my understanding, the condition was incredibly grave, people did not believe she would make it through the first night. I prayed for her a bit in the 24 hours after it happened, and it felt like Jesus was saying to me, implanting into me, that she would be hanging on. She made it through the first night, and then the second night. Pastor Jeff Porte, our KJM board president, told me two days ago that her vitals were solid. Praise Jesus!
But something extraordinary happened today on the Jail floor. I was in the high security area, talking with the inmates, and I mentioned that this happened, since the jail inmates know this member of our team. We talked about it a bit and said we should pray for her, but then we moved on with our conversation. After another half hour, I said to the brothers that I had to leave to go to another part of the jail, and we prayed. At the end of the prayer, one of the inmates, a particularly spiritual fellow, said:
“We forgot to pray for this woman who is injured.” He said, “can we pray right now, let’s pray more and pray for her.“
So me and the brothers all got together again, in a circle, and prayed. We asked Jesus to heal her, to give her full recovery. Through the course of the prayer, I was pointing my mind at Jesus, I could feel his presence, and I could feel him shaping the prayer, steering me on what to say, so as to be praying according to His will, and so that therefore the prayer could be answered. In that shaping that the LORD did during the prayer, I found my self astonished at what I saw GOD saying through me, in this prayer circle deep in the high security wing of the jail:
“LORD Jesus, please let her just open her eyes, so that she knows that people are there with her, and that her family knows that she is still with them. And Jesus, that is all we are asking for today, at this moment, that she could open her eyes, at least just once, and bring Hope to those that are with her.”
So later tonight, at home, I was thinking about all this. So I reached out and texted this member of our team, to tell him that I felt like Jesus was saying he was going to heal her. This member of our KJM team immediately told me that a miracle happened today. He said:
“She opened her eyes, just for a moment; she was with us, it was a total miracle.”
That was the same text me and the brothers in the high security wing said when we prayed for her!
I immediately texted him back, and asked what time this all happened? I told him about the prayer request of the inmate, that we had prayed, I asked him what time,. He said it was about 45 minutes after our prayer.
