We have donors who donate books quite regularly to the KJM library. By an oversight, I missed a box from our top book donor, from the last time they donated a big lot of books, about six weeks ago. So, today I found the box of books in our office, when I finally had a moment to go through some of our library a bit. To my shock, there were three books on the theology of the Holy Spirit, a very under-discussed topic (in my opinion), and we have only ever had one book on that subject since I have been in jail ministry since 2017. I actually remember, just one book, and it was donated by my wife and I, to the jail ministry, back in 2019. None since then. And to get three in one box was sort of like winning the lottery. They were real (meaning academic level) theology books, specifically about pneumatology (the study of the Holy Spirit). So, I worked in the office a bit, and as soon as lockdown was over, I went right up to the A West wing. I stayed there a long time, but I wanted to make it over to a part of the B South wing, so I could delivery, you guessed it, a stack of theology books to some guys in that wing. So, I get to that wing, and I walk right up to some inmates on the end of a specific cell-block I wanted to get to, and the fella says to me,
“Do you have any books on the theology of the Holy Spirit?”
I blurt out:
“I knew somebody was going to ask that!! I just new it!”
I was all excited.
“I opened up a box of our books today and found three books on pneumatology, and I thought,
‘How crazy is that, three books. It must be that somebody is going to ask for these today… The LORD must have just brought them here because somebody needed them.’
“And here you are, asking me for them. I don’t think in all these years of jail ministry that anyone has ever asked me for a book on the theology of the Holy Spirit!”
And everyone was filled with amazement
