Twice this week, I talked to the same inmate. He is about 45-years-old. We talked to on Tuesday, and he expressed various non-Christian views (some rather evil and non-logical), about if there’s a GOD or not, what GOD, is and so forth. It basically sounded like he had invented a rather unhealthy religion, focused on self and some rebellious ideas.

Amid our conversations this week, he mentioned fear over his looming court appearance (a few weeks away), and real stress over how he had not heard from his attorney, in what he said was quite a while. Then, out-of-the-blue, as I was getting ready to get going, on Tuesday, to my surprise, he said:

“Chaplain Jeff, I know you believe in Jesus, so if you want to pray with me, go ahead and pray to Jesus with me, I don’t mind.”

So, I prayed to Jesus, and said:

“LORD Jesus Christ, please bring this brother a revelation from you. Let him know You directly, I beg you. Also, he apparently hasn’t talked to his lawyer in a long time, and he’s concerned, as he goes to court soon. Please let them connect.”

The inmate and I talked a bit more, and then I left for the day. To be honest, I forgot all about the prayer after we prayed it, amid the busyness of a busy Tuesday. But it was a good prayer! I could feel the LORD! Praise Him!

So after I talked to the old fella yesterday, I walked a few feet back over to talk to the 45 year-old fellow again, completely forgetting everything we talked about on Tuesday, due to the excitement I was feeling, the elation, over my conversations and prayers with the old fella.

But the 45-year-old started talking right away:

“Chaplain Jeff! I heard from my lawyer today! He’s coming to talk to me tomorrow! So I don’t have to try to get a new lawyer and restart my case!”

The fellow was had a big smile. I was just looking at them, and he said:

“For real!“ He said that before I even had a chance to respond.

He was looking at me and smiling. He started nodding his head, and he said:

“Yeah, it worked!“

“Bro, we just prayed yesterday!“ I said.

“I know.“ He said.

“Wow. The LORD is our help. This is what we see in the jail ministry brother,” I said to him.

He and I prayed again

“Thank you Jesus! Wow!”

People were tearing up, those who were listening, right there in a cement Jail cell. I felt drunk, drunk with God:

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
