KJM Sunday Testimony and Scripture Service
Last month, Adam Sterenberg, founder of Tree of Life School, and Path of Life High School, was back, and therefore so was the KJM Jail jam. Here is one of the videos from the service:
There was great interest amongst the inmates in opening up and sharing about how their lives were a path to salvation in Christ. We actually ran out of time (the time allotted to us for the service by the jail staff) before we could get to all the testimonies. The head officer for the jail’s team of officers commented to me on how it seemed the inmates were very engaged in the service. The first three inmates who gave their stories told about incredible hardship during their childhoods which led them directly to Jesus. Interestingly, of those first three testimonies given, each of the inmates told remarkably similar stories, where each of the inmates had mothers who were prostitutes who later became debilitated.
“Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.”
-GOD/Jesus (as spoken in Matt. 21:31)
The first inmate who gave his testimony said, with a big Jesus-filled grin (I mean, it was a BIG smile, and a real smile!) the following:
“My sister and I were raised by my mother, who supported us by prostituting herself to pay all the bills and take care of us. But then later, when I was 12, she became debilitated and I had to take care of her. I had to be her full caregiver, as part of my everyday life.”
The next two inmates had strikingly similar stories.
These inmates, and all the remaining inmate testimonies, had a message to share in their testimony, which was that Jesus saved them, He did it all, and now they had hope and peace and clarity. Some of the men were quite stirred up by this discussion.
